Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB Improve the operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist to perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
• Assist to determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans
• Obtain, analyze and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data. flowcharts etc.
• Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings
• Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum
• Conduct follow up audits to monitor management's interventions Engage to continuous knowledge development regarding sector's rules. regulations, best practices, tools. techniques and performance standards
• Carry out spot checks and special assignments as directed
• Check and verify accounting books and records are in conformity with industry practices and corporate policies.
• Ensure compliance of regulatory guidelines and generally accepted auditing standards
Any other duty as maybe assigned from time to time by the Head of Internal Audit.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance/Economics/Statistics/Business Administration I Professional qualification- CPA (K), CIA. CISA I Membership with ICPAK/IIWISACA
• Should have at least 5 years experience in Audit Department in a financial institution
• Aged 35 years and above
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Demonstrated knowledge in financial planning and management
• Strong Analytical, numeric, and strong Inter-personal skills.
Good communication skills both verbal and written
• Must be conversant with Accounting regulations
• Ability to stick to time constrains
• Commercial and business acumen.
