Job Objective/Purpose
Provide and ensure quality obstetrics and gynecology services within the Avenue group in line with the company policies andprocedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Attend to walk in and referred obstetrics and gynecology patients both out and in patient.
2. Oversee the obstetrics and gynecology department.
3. Run the gynecology and Antenatal clinics.
4. Provision of superior diagnostic, preventative and interventional medical care.
5. Accurate and clear documentation of patient history, physical examination, investigations, and management.
6. Provide clarity of investigations to be carried out and interpretation of the results and ensure update to the patients and the next of kin.
7. Facilitates patient admissions, necessary consents and discharges.
8. Counsel clients on treatment and compliance to treatment (patient and family) while ensuring their participation in decision making in their management.
9. Carry out procedures and surgical interventions (obstetric & gynecological) while ensuring high quality of care/services and safety of patients.
10. Conduct family conferences on need basis.
11. Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings as required.
12. Participation in incident reporting, root cause analysis and Quality Improvement Plan
13. Participation in resuscitation of patients.
14. Conduct timely ward rounds and patient reviews
15. Facilitate Continuous Medical Education and mentorship to colleagues to build capacity to provide care.
16. Acquiring new skills on best practices and assist in their implementation.
17. Maintain a positive work attitude and foster team work.
18. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
19. Ensure patient satisfaction through quality of care, communication, feedback and escalation through the standardized tool for patient satisfaction measurement and demonstrate follow-up and improvement.
20. Ensure the facility is financially viable and demonstrate growth;
a. Increase the quality and diversity of services offered in the facility. Support marketing activities to ensure introduction of new services.
b. Ensure pre-authorizations have been sought c. Ensure timely and accurate billing of drugs and services.
d. Work closely with the credit controller to monitor patient limits.
21. Ensure that Avenue corporate governance policies are adhered to. a. Prevent, detect and report any fraud or criminal activity b. Timely review and implementation of audit recommendations
22. Ensure adequate knowledge of all Avenue policies, procedures and systems as outlined in the HRMIS.
23. Any other duty as assigned by your immediate supervisor in line with the job description.
Personal Specifications
• Master of Medicine in obstetrics and gynecology
• Specialist recognition in obstetrics and gynecology
• 2 years’ experience with laparoscopic training
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail, result oriented and customer focus
