POSITION: SENIOR ASSISTANT POLYTECHNIC INSTRUCTOR - JOB GROUP CPSB 08 ‘L’ (6 POSTS)
Basic Salary: Kshs. 49,000 x 2,170 –51,170 x 2,550 –53,720 x 2,650 – 56,370 x 2,750 – 59,120 x
2,920 – 62,040x3,080 – 65,120 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
An instructor at this level may be deployed as Principal of the County Polytechnic in addition to
teaching duties. Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail-
a) Train in areas of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
b) Coordinate courses, projects and practical work;
c) Prepare and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, teaching and learning
materials and trainee records;
d) Induct and supervise newly appointed instructors;
e) Carry out research in the relevant field of specialization;
f) Participate in budget preparation;
g) Conduct co-curricular activities for trainees;
h) Maintain trainee discipline through guiding and counseling;
i) Liaise with relevant industries for trainee attachment; and
j) Coordinate storage, care, maintenance and proper usage of teaching and learning
materials, tools and equipment.
Requirements for Appointment;
For promotion to this grade an instructor must have: -
a) Served in the grade of Assistant County Polytechnic instructor I, Job Group CPSB 09/’K’ for a
minimum period of three (3) years;
b) Diploma in any of the following technical disciplines:- Technical Education, Computer
Studies/Science; Information and Communication Technology; Electronics Engineering;
Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering;
Automotive Engineering; Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Building and
Construction Technology; Civil Engineering; Agriculture; Home Economics and Textile
Technology; Food Technology; Institutional Management; Food and Beverage
Management; Catering and Housekeeping; General Education (Physics, Chemistry, Biology,
Mathematics, Linguistics) and Entrepreneurship or its equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution;
c) Registered by Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA);
d) Training in pedagogical skills;
e) Have shown merit and ability in work performance and results; and
f) Attended industrial attachment for a minimum of eight (8) weeks in the relevant field.
