AVIATION SECURITY INSPECTOR - GRADE 6 (REF: ASSR/AS/05/23) –
4 POSITIONS
DEPARTMENT AVIATION SECURITY
REPORTS TO PRINCIPAL AVIATION SECURITY INSPECTOR
a) Job Description
Duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:
i. Carrying out routine security inspections at airports, airlines, regulated agents,
catering operators, aviation training organizations, air navigation service
providers, ground handlers and aviation security service providers.
ii. Conducting Ad-hoc (surveillance) inspections and reporting on non-compliance
for necessary action.
iii. Undertaking periodic (intermittent) security inspections,
iv. Conducting follow-up inspections to ensure rectification of identified non-
compliance; and
v. Collecting information on operator compliance levels and other security matters
that could adversely affect civil aviation operations.
b) Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade an officer must have at least:
i. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Aviation Management, Law,
Criminology, Economics, Public/Business Administration, Structural Engineering,
Security Studies or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
ii. Certificate in Aviation Security Basic (123) Course from an institution recognized
by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
iii. Certificate in Cargo and Mail Security Course from an institution recognized by
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO.
iv. Proficiency in computer applications; and
v. Fulfilled the requirement of chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
