POSITION: DEPUTY DIRECTOR EARLY CHILD HOOD EDUCATION (ECDE)
JOB GROUP CPSB 04(Q)

Terms of Service: Permanent
Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Operations and administration of the ECDE department
2. Supervise the ECDE Directorate
3. Coordination and implementation of policies and plans.
4. Promotion of public and private partnership in ECDE
5. Monitoring and reporting of the activities of the department.
6. Organizing for capacity building of ECDE staff
7. Coordination of ECDE activities in the county.
8. Develop programs for training of ECDE teachers and caregivers
9. Develop programs for ICT training of teachers and children.
10. Develop assessment programs for ECDE teachers and caregivers.
11. Coordinating and Facilitating external examination processes and documentation.
12. developing a county Resource Centre for ECD programmes
13. initiating research in ECDE field and develop appropriate intervention
14. preparing ECDE strategies and giving technical advice and guidance to personnel in
lower cadres
15. Perform any other duty assigned by the chief officer
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, Deputy Director of ECDE must have:
1. Be a Kenyan Citizen
2. Served in the grade of Assistant Director of ECDE for three years or a comparable
position for a minimum of three years.
3. A Bachelors of Education degree in Early Childhood Development from a recognized
university or it’s approved equivalent.
4. A Masters of Education degree in Early Childhood Development or any other relevant
postgraduate degree from a recognized university will be an added advantage.
5. shown exemplary leadership and management skills in ECDE programmes; and
6. Have demonstrated a clear understating of ECDE national and county frame work,
policies, goals and objectives.
7. Demonstrate competence, merit and ability as reflected on work performance and results
8. Demonstrate a high degree of administrative and professional competence.
9. Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
