Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization's core mandate is to provide reliable and affordable Health Products and Technologies, Quality Assurance and Health Systems Strengthening Services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread all over Kenya, other regions in Africa and beyond.
The position will report to the Managing Director and will be responsible for providing legal advise to the organisation's leadership to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

Key responsibilities:
Develop legal & regulatory framework applicable across MEDS operations
ii. Define the necessary level of knowledge on existing and emerging regulatory compliance requirements across the organization iii. Monitor and review compliance to legal, regulatory and contractual requirements & changes across MEDS processes
iv. Develop Annual Compliance workplans that reflect MEDS unique characteristics and business functions
V. Provide guidance, advice, and/or training and educational programs, to enhance understanding of MEDS leadership and staff of applicable laws and regulatory requirements
vi. Advise the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors on legal issues
vii. Identify emerging legal issues affecting MEDS for compliance
viii. Engage with government bodies and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
ix. Advocate and lobby for MEDS interests in statutory and regulatory engagements
X. Negotiate, draft, review and vet documents for third party contracts
xi. Coordinate internal compliance reviews and monitoring activities to ensure legal compliance
xii. Handle litigation and disputes and participate in resolution of commercial and contractual disputes involving MEDS
xiii. Liaise with external legal service providers on court cases involving the Organisation to ensure timely, efficient and effective conclusion of prosecutions and disputes
Job requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognized Institution, Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
ii. Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate,
iii. Member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing
iv. Minimum of eight years work experience (5) years post admission experience in a busy law firm or public/commercial entity. three (3) of which should have been at a Supervisory level
