JOB TITLE: MANAGER INTERNAL AUDITOR, JOB GRADE KFCB 3 – 1 POST
(Terms Of Service is a Five Year Contract Renewable Subject to Performance) – REF:

(a) Job Description
This is the highest grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will be responsible functionally to the
Board and administratively to the Chief Executive Officer for efficient management and administration of
the department. Duties and responsibilities entails:-
i. Formulating, interpreting and implementing audit policies, strategies, procedures and
programmes;
ii. Planning and coordinating internal audit activities;
iii. Ensuring adherence of accounting procedures;
iv. Developing and reviewing audit management systems;
v. Verifying final audit reports/queries on financial statements;
vi. Directing and monitoring audit inspections of the Board’s records;
vii. Validating audit programmes and work plans for the Board;
viii. Validating annual audit reports;
ix. Supervising and appraising the officers under him/her;
x. Verifying the accuracy and disclosures in financial statements;
xi. Providing leadership in the co-ordination of external audits to ensure that issues raised by
auditors are addressed;
xii. Evaluating and documenting audit evidence; and
xiii. Ascertaining the adequacy of the Board’s internal control and providing remedial advice.
(b) Job Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must: -
i. Have ten (10) years of relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been at the
management level;
ii. Have Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce
(Accounting/Finance option), Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business
Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iii. Have Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce
(Accounting/Finance option), Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Auditing, Business
Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iv. Have Certificate in a Management course lasting not less than (4)Weeks from a recognized
institution;
v. Be a registered member of any of the following professional bodies:- Institute of Internal
Auditors (IIA), Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or Information
Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA);
vi. Be proficient in computer applications;
vii. Have demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work
performance; and
viii. Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
