JOB GROUP ‘L’
(A) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities will entail: -
• compiling fisheries statistics and preparing technical reports;
• participating in monitoring, control and surveillance of fisheries resources;
• providing fisheries extension services including mobilizing and training fishers,
• maintaining ponds at fish farms and hatcheries; and conducting fish inspection and quality
assurance.
• organizing on farm trials on fish species and feed;
• assessing fish post-harvest losses;
• undertaking applied fisheries research and dissemination of research findings;
• undertaking market surveys; and promoting fish marketing and value addition.
(B) REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
i. Served in the grade of fisheries officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service
or Private sector for at least three [3] years.
ii. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: - fisheries, zoology, Aquatic Sciences, or any
other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
iii. Certificate in computer application skills form a recognized institution;
iv. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
