POSITION: PRINCIPAL PHYSICAL PLANNER, JOB GROUP CPSB 06/’N’ (2 POSTS)
Basic Salary: Kshs. 56,370 x 2,750 – 59,120 x 2,920 – 62,040 x 3,080 – 65,120 x 3,440-68,560 x
3,590 -72,150 x3,790 – 75,940 x3,800 – 79,740 x3,810 – 83,550 x3,810 – 87,360 p.m.
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Preparing county, metropolitan regional, rural, physical development plans;
ii. Providing guidance on data requirements for the various categories of physical
development plans;
iii. Implementing physical planning policies and strategies; standards and programmes;
iv. Conducting thematic regional and national studies;
v. Keeping record of deliberations and communicating decision of physical planning liason
committees;
vi. Advising liason committees and overseeing enforcement of resolutions; and
vii. Preparing annual state of physical planning reports on county, regional, urban and rural
physical development plans.
Requirement for appointment
For appointment in this grade, an officer must:
i. Have served in the grade of Chief Physical Planner, Job Group CPSB 07/ ‘M’ for a minimum
period of three (3) years;
ii. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines; Urban and Regional Planning,
Urban Planning or Town Planning from a recognized University;
iii. Be a corporate member of Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya
(Town Planners Chapter);
iv. Be a Registered Planner by Physical Planners Registration Board;
v. Have a certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized organization;
vi. Have a certificate in Computer Applications Skills; and
vii. Have demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results.
