POSITION: PRINCIPAL ENGINEERING SURVEYOR JOB GROUP CPSB 06
Number of Posts: One (1) Post
Terms of Service: Permanent
Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission

Duties and Responsibilities will entail:
i. Shall be responsible for all survey work, establishment of survey controls, ground
profiles and alignments to approved by the Engineer.
ii. Involvement in supervision of water and sewer pipeline installation and other relater
water structures including water pans and small dams.
iii. Management of the survey requirements on all construction works.
iv. Required to set out a variety of construction works including Pipeline works, Sewer
lines, buildings, earthworks, concrete works, drainage and services.
v. General survey tasks (Establish and maintain control, Monitoring, set-outs, as-builts,
service locations, etc.)
vi. Undertaking site and office-based surveying works including performing calculations
and reducing data.
vii. Data capturing, analyzing, and manipulation to produce drawings and reports
viii. Producing reports
ix. Liaising with clients/stakeholders/onsite personnel
x. Conducting detail, feature, topographical and as-built surveys depending on the project
requirements.
xi. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for appointment:
i. Be a Kenyan citizen.
ii. Be a holder of a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering Surveying, Land
Surveying and Photogrammetry, Geomatics, Technology in Geo-informatics,
Geospatial Engineering, Philosophy in Technology (survey) or Hydrography from a
recognized Institution.
iii. Minimum of 5years post graduate experience and demonstrate previous work
history with the main contractor engineering construction company or have had
previous experience working on civil related projects with a survey firm/institution.
iv. A good understanding and demonstrative experience of modern survey
instrumentation, including Total Station, RTK, GPS, GIS, CAD, data modeling and
manipulation.
v. Must be registered with Institution of Surveyors of Kenya and be in good standing
(ISK).
vi. Demonstrate a high degree in professional and technical competence as reflected in
work performance and results including strong organizational skills, attention to
detail, and a proven track record in the field.
vii. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the County Development goals and plans
towards attainment of Kenya Vision 2030.
viii. Demonstrate a thorough understanding and commitment to the values and
principles as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
ix. Be a strategic thinker, proactive and result oriented.
x. Have the capacity to work under pressure and fast-paced environments to meet
strict deadlines; and
xi. Have the ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with
sensitivity and respect for diversity.
