Job Purpose: The Paediatric Surgeon at the Hospital specializes in performing surgical procedures on
pediatric patients. This role exists to provide expert surgical care, improve the health and well-being
of children, and ensure the highest standards of pediatric surgery.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Evaluate and diagnose surgical conditions in pediatric patients.
• Perform surgical procedures on infants, children, and adolescents.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients and their families.
• Collaborate with pediatricians and other specialists for comprehensive care.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in pediatric surgery.
• Participate in teaching and mentoring junior medical staff.
• Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
i. Master’s degree (MMed) in General Surgery or equivalent specialization from an institution
recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
ii. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from an institution recognized by Kenya
Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
iii. Served for a minimum period of nine (9) years relevant work, five (5) of which should have
been in a Management position.
iv. Evidence of having taken a leadership course.
v. Retention in the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council register.
vi. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
vii. Recognition as a specialist or sub-specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’
Council.
viii. Valid Practice License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council .
ix. Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
x. Proficiency in computer applications.
xi. Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
