Job Purpose: The Renal Counsellor role exists to provide counseling and support to patients with
kidney-related conditions and enhances the emotional well-being and coping skills of patients facing
kidney health challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide counseling to patients and families dealing with kidney-related issues.
• Assess patients' emotional and psychological needs.
• Develop individualized counseling and support plans.
• Offer education on kidney health and lifestyle adjustments.
• Collaborate with medical teams to provide holistic care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
i. Bachelor’s degree in Counselling Psychology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution
ii. Registration by the Counselors and Psychologists Society of Kenya (CPS-K)
iii. Proficiency in computer applications
iv. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010

• Counseling and emotional support skills to assist patients and families facing renal issues.
• Patient education expertise to provide information on renal conditions and treatment
options.
• Empathy and active listening to address patients' emotional and psychological needs.
• Collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care and support for renal
