VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Judicial Service Commission is established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, with a mandate of promoting and facilitating the independence and accountability of the Judiciary, and the efficient, effective and transparent Administration of Justice. The Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the following vacancy in the Judiciary.

POSITION: SENIOR ENGINEER, CIVIL/STRUCTURAL (JSG 4)

Terms of Service : Permanent and Pensionable
Gross Salary Scale : Kshs. 169,800 – 227,600 p.m.

Job Purpose:
The job holder will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining electrical installations/equipment.

Reporting Responsibilities
The job holder is responsible to the Assistant Director Civil/Structural Engineering.

Area of Deployment:
Department of Building Services

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Designing, implementing and maintaining electrical installations/equipment;
ii. Coordinating installation and testing to ensure compliance with specifications;
iii. Performing detailed calculations and establishing compliance of installation standards;
iv. Inspecting completed installations and observe operations;
v. Overseeing compliance to design and equipment specifications;
vi. Overseeing compliance with operational and safety standards;
vii. Preparing specification for materials and equipment;
viii. Reviewing electrical systems, product components and applications;
ix. Confirming systems and components capacity by design testing methods;
x. Maintaining electrical equipment;
xi. Supervising electrical works;
xii. Carrying out feasibility studies and preparation of reports; and
xiii. Ensuring compliance with the regulations and guidelines for electrical works.

Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: -
i. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
ii. Registered as an Engineer by Engineers Board of Kenya or any other recognized professional body;
iii. A Senior Management Course from a recognized institution;
iv. Proficiency in computer application skills;
v. Demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results; and
vi. Met the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

Experience:
i. Minimum six (6) years relevant work experience;
ii. At least three (3) years at Supervisory Management level.

i. Sound knowledge of Public Procurement Laws of Kenya;
ii. Demonstrated ability to design, implement and maintain electrical installations/equipment;
iii. Knowledgeable in regulations and guidelines for electrical works;
