Job Description
Job Purpose
The technician, Plumber is responsible for carrying out plumbing and drainage maintenance work in the Bank. He/She will be responsible for maintaining and providing for the safe condition and operation of plumbing systems and installations in Bank facilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintenance and Repair of all plumbing installations in the Bank facilities.
2. Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
3. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
4. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, among others.
5. Repair kitchen equipment that incorporates gas or water consumption as per the required standards and work orders.
6. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
7. Maintain accurate records on materials and labor and prepare relevant reports on a weekly basis.
8. Maintain an inventory of Bank-owned tools, equipment and materials in the assigned area of work.
9. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean and safe.
10. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete ongoing plumbing related works in projects.
11. Identify areas on buildings, grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures that require repairs and take appropriate action.
12. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment used in the day-to-day operations to ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
13. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
14. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
15. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that require escalation to supervisor immediately.
16. Collaborate with other units in the Division to perform duties associated with light project assignments.
Any other duty that may be allocated by the supervisor.
Qualifications
1. Diploma or equivalent in building services with emphasis in plumbing, including drainage, water supply, firefighting systems.
2. Artisan National Trade Test Certificate /apprentice Certificate awarded by the National Industrial Training Authority or its equivalent/or higher and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
Work Experience
Three (3) years’ experience of plumbing works within a large and busy organization.

1. Experienced and hands-on in all practical plumbing and related building functions.
2. Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
3. Knowledge of the Kenyan plumbing code.
4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material by a Services Engineer.
5. Ability to diagnose and resolve plumbing related problems, use hand and power tools inline with the outline guidelines.
6. Ability to write technical specifications and estimate costs.
7. Computer skills – including use of MS Office suite, ArchiCAD/AutoCAD
