Job Description
Job Purpose
Implements Board resolutions and provides overall strategic leadership on day-to-day
management of the Corporation in its mandate of Procurement Agent for the Government;
oversees trading activities including sourcing and distribution of commodities, logistics and
warehousing services as well as other commercial operations aimed at growing the
Corporation’s profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Chief Executive Officer of the Board;
2. Secretary to the Board;
3. Accounting Officer of the Board;
4. Providing strategic leadership to the staff of the Board;
5. Ensuring the efficient, effective and transparent management of trading operations in
accordance with government policy, regulations and laws;
6. Maintaining effective collaboration and partnerships with organs of Government and
Government agencies, international organizations, private sector and all stakeholders;
7. Guiding in the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures
that give the Board positive perception and competitive advantage;
8. Be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Board;
9. Fostering relationship with the relevant Ministries, development partners and other
stakeholders for the benefit of the Board;
10. Ensuring prudent management of all available resources of the Board;
11. Ensuring adherence to relevant national and international conventions and treaties;
12. Fostering conducive corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good
governance in line with the Constitution of Kenya 2010;
13. Coordinating the preparation of the budget and financial reports for consideration
and approval by the Board;
14. Ensuring compliance with Legal, Regulatory, Government policies, guidelines and
directives.
Recognized qualifications
1. Bachelors Degree in any of the following fields: - Business Administration, Business
Management, Commerce, Accounts, Finance, Economics, or equivalent qualification
from a recognized Institution;
2. Masters Degree in any of the following fields: - Strategic Management, Finance,
Economics, or any other relevant social science or equivalent qualification from a
recognized Institution;
3. Fifteen (15) years’ relevant work experience, five (5) of which must be at a Senior
Management role;
4. Member of a relevant professional body in good standing;
5. Certificate of Leadership in a course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized institution;
6. Proficiency in computer application skills;
7. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
