Reporting to Assistant Manager, Capital & Energy Planning, the job holder is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: -

Duties & Responsibilities
i. Conducting financial analysis of existing KenGen plants earmarked for redevelopment and/or new projects proposed for capacity expansion.
ii. Conducting financial appraisal for projects under feasibility studies.
iii. Developing financial models to determine the outcomes of planned projects pipeline, with key financial and economic indicators such as NPV, IRR, EIRR and the indicative generation tariffs etc.
iv. Providing input for new projects, feasibility studies and advice on viability and applicable tariffs.
v. Participating in the corporate finance forecasting model ensuring that the planned project pipeline is incorporated into the overall corporate financial model to ensure overall financial viability of the Company.
vi. Understanding the field of project financing to effectively participate in the financial due diligence with the project financiers during the project appraisal process.
vii. Supporting the Strategy Division in the development and monitoring of the Corporate Strategy ensuring the proposed project pipeline is aligned with the overall Corporate Strategy
viii. Effectively participating in the preparation of the National Least Cost Power Development Plan, ensuring the KenGen projects earmarked for development are incorporated in the National Plan
ix. Effectively participating in the development of projects under the public private partnership procurement model.
x. Preparing proposals and forwarding budgets for the Company on new investment projects.
xi. Preparing and monitoring the Divisional budget.
xii. Tracking and monitoring the performance of the division targets.
Person Specifications
i. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option) or equivalent, from a recognized institution.
ii. Masters in the field of Finance is an added advantage
iii. Certified Public Accountants (CPA) K or final ACCA certification or any other relevant professional membership in the field Finance
iv. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of Constitution of Kenya
v. Experience in project appraisals, monitoring and evaluation and public private partnership is an added advantage.
