Job Description
The role is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. The incumbent will be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. This role is further responsible for Installation and configuration of databases, data backups and restoration, database monitoring and performance tuning and securing of databases.
Duties and responsibilities
- Installation, configuration and deployment of database setups and software platforms.
- Monitoring database systems performance and address potential issues to ensure services are available and running optimally.
- Carry out database changes and updates during deployments of application releases.
- Perform backups and recovery of data and data logs
- Performs database optimization and performance monitoring on Live databases
- Implement relevant updates and patches
- Implement procedures that will ensure and sustain database security
- Identifying and resolving complex database server problems in Sacco environment
- Analyzing and improving database performance for key processes
- Support for new ongoing project development, testing, and deployment
- Monitor user access and security and control database access permissions and privileges
- Enhance, improve & implement disaster recovery solutions including designing, configuring and support the existing environment.
- Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSC in Information Technology and University degree in Computer Science or Information and Communication Technology.
- Certifications –OCP, OCE; EXADATA Administration; MSSQL Server Administration, Linux/ UNIX certification. will be an added advantage
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 4 years’ working experience with 2 years’ carrying out IT related functions in a busy office.
- Minimum of Two years’ experience in Banks Realm core banking system Support and development in a Financial Institution, Database Administration and SQL scripting.
SKILLS & COMPETENCES:
Knowledge:
- Must have good understanding working with different database environments
- Ability to provide adhoc support to different database environments
- A good team player with good work ethics
