Job Description
Our client is a well established SACCO in Nairobi County. They wish to recruit an Operations Officer who will be the SACCO’s second-in-command at the Secretariat and responsible for the daily operations. The Operations Officer is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The main role is to coordinate and maintain control of the diverse business operations cutting across all the departments and transcending to external stakeholders. The individual must be experienced with operations in a financial institution environment and efficient leader. Excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethics are a must have skills.
OBJECTIVES OF ROLE
1. The goal of the COO position is to secure the functionality of SACCO business to drive extensive and sustainable growth.
2. Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, Staff development and attending to external stakeholders needs.
3. Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning.
4. Oversee the SACCO’S operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
5. Ensure effective recruiting, on boarding, professional development, performance management, and retention.
6. Ensure the SACCO adheres to Legal, regulatory and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures.
• Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth for departments.
• Establish policies that enable efficient service delivery and promote progressive culture and vision.
• Continually analyze internal operations and identify areas requiring of process enhancement.
• Develop actionable operations strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term business objectives.
• Coordinate, control and ensure smooth and efficient daily operations of the organization both internally and externally.
• Lead employees to achieve maximum performance and dedication
• Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics and advice for institution of corrective measure.
• Review and analyze monthly management reports before submission to the Board.
• Monitor individual staff and departmental performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as may be needed, and prepare monthly detailed reports, both current and forecasting
• Manage relationships with partners/vendors
• Aggressively manage expenses to ensure the SACCO achieves her targets relative to growth and profitability
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with Clients, partners, and stakeholders
PERSON PROFILE
Academic and Professional Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Cooperative Management, Commerce, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, HR or related field.
• A professional qualification in Business Administration/Management, Cooperative Management, Commerce, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, HR or related field e.g. (CPA(K), CCA(K), ACCA, CPS(K), CISA, CCP, CIFA or any other relevant certification
• A Master’s degree in the relevant field shall be an added advantage.
• 5+ years’ experience in management leadership position in the financial sector or business enterprise.
• Membership of a professional body in good standing.
Requirements Skills
• Proven experience as managing operations or relevant role in financial institution
• Understanding of business planning, development and regulatory issues in the financial sector and Deposit Taking SACCOs subsector.
• Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, marketing etc.
• Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics, MS Office
• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities and integrity, etc
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
• Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
TERMS OF SERVICE
1. This is a senior management position on an initial three (3) year contract terms (renewable based on performance and productivity).
2. The SACCO shall offer a competitively negotiated remuneration package based on qualifications, experience and performance.
3. A non-contributory medical benefit at the current medical scheme terms and conditions.
REMUNERATION
• Gross Salary: Ksh 80,000 to Ksh 110,000 per month based on qualifications
• Medical Cover
