REGIONAL COORDINATOR, KWT4 (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities
i) Coordinate regional activities with the water towers under jurisdiction;
ii) Participate Identification and documentation of water towers, biodiversity
hotspots and wetlands for gazettement, protection and conservation in
consultation with relevant stakeholders
iii) Participate in protection and gazettement of water towers and watersheds
for protection in the region in consultation with relevant stakeholders;
iv) Participate in the zonation, recovery and rehabilitation of critical water
catchment areas and biodiversity hotspots;
v) Participate in development and dissemination of water towers ecosystem
management strategic plans, standards and regulations;
vi) Sensitize relevant stakeholders and agencies on protection, rehabilitation
and conservation
vii) Participate in acquisition of ecosystem related data and information in all
the identified Water Towers to support ecosystem management strategic
planning, protection, rehabilitation and conservation
viii) Contribute to auditing and monitoring of rehabilitation, conservation and
management activities in water towers ecosystem
ix) Prepare field reports and participate in the preparation of work plans and
budgets
x) Acquire ecosystem related data and information in all the identified Water
Towers to support management auditing and development of ecosystem
management strategic plans and standards
xi) Participate in auditing and monitor rehabilitation, conservation and
management activities in water towers
xii) Participate in activities related to security, rehabilitation and protection of
the water towers
xiii) Participate in Environment Impact Assessment and economic valuation in
the water towers
xiv) Resolve conflicts of various actors within the water towers under
jurisdiction;
xv) Overseeing the dissemination of water tower programmes and policies on
protection rehabilitation and conservation;
xvi) Engage in stakeholder identification and develop and maintain relationships
with strategic partners.
xvii) Support resource mobilization for nature-based enterprises at the regional
level.
xviii) Support the implementation of prioritized nature-based enterprises at the
water towers.
xix) Participate in community sensitization on environmental conservation and
nature-based enterprises.
xx) Prepare field reports, quarterly and annual land use reports
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -
i) A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of
which should have been at the supervisory level
ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields; Natural Resource
Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Forestry,
Environmental planning, Forestry Meteorology, Cartography, Hydrology,
Botany, Ecology, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
iii) Masters degree in any of the following fields; Natural Resource
Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Forestry,
Environmental planning, Forestry Meteorology, Cartography, Hydrology,
Botany, Ecology, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
iv) Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
institution
v) Professional qualification and membership to a professional body where
applicable
vi) Proficiency in computer application
vii) Demonstrate merit as reflected in work performance and results;
viii) Good communication skills
ix) Meet the provision of Chapter Six of Constitution
