ECOSYSTEM RESEARCH OFFICER- KWT6 (4 Positions)
Duties and responsibilities
i) Carry out assessments and generate information to support development of the Water towers status report;
ii) Assist in assessing and monitoring of rehabilitation and conservation activities in the Water Towers;
iii) Develop field data collection protocols for assessing and monitoring the Water towers;
iv) Carry out field data collection, entry, analysis, archiving and reporting on the status of the Water Towers;
v) Assist in development of periodic status reports and dissemination to stakeholders
vi) Assist in generation of baseline data and information on water towers, critical water catchment areas and biodiversity hotspots;
vii) Assist in development of stakeholders inventory in the Water Towers;
viii) Support the development and maintenance of water towers monitoring system and Geo-information infrastructure;
ix) Assist in collection, processing and archival of water towers spatial and nonspatial data
x) Support in carrying out rapid assessment of critical natural resource elements within the Water Tower;
For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have:
i) A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Geo-Information or any other relevant field
ii) Proficiency in Computer applications;
iii) Working experience with ArcGIS, QGIS and image processing software (ENVI, ERDAS, R-Studio)
iv) Experience in managing Geospatial databases and Geoportals will be an added advantage;
v) Fulfilling the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
vi) Have demonstrated professional competence, leadership qualities as well as good understanding of Natural Resources sector;
