V/NO.27/2022: CHEF, JOB GROUP ‘H’ [TWO (2) POSTS]
Terms of service: Contract
Salary: As prescribed by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)
Duties and responsibilities:-
a) The Chef will be overall in charge of food assembly, preparation, production, placement,
delivery and use and care maintenance of kitchen equipment.
b) Planning orders of foodstuffs for availability when needed, and maintaining price
fluctuation charts and other appropriate records;
c) Developing and implementing policies, procedures and methods for food production in
consultation with other administrative staff to achieve high quality meals, and cost effective performance objectives.
d) The Chef will also ensure proper supervision and training of all kitchen staff working under
him or her.
Requirements for appointment:-
For appointment to this grade, a person must be in possession of:-
a) Have served in the grade of Senior Cook for at least three years; and
b) Have thorough knowledge of culinary arts including cooking, baking, salad preparation
and food presentation.
c) He / she must also be thoroughly conversant with different methods of food storage and
preservation.
