Job Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Brand Store Manager will be expected to deliver an excellent experience to customers and provide advice on the best items to purchase based on customer needs. The potential incumbent will ensure the USIU-Africa brand store is presentable and enticing to those visiting the store and to make sure it runs smoothly and effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Complete store administration – inventory management, merchandising, sales (both in-store and on-line), restocking and order management.
2. Ensure accurate and appropriate advice to ensure that our customers buy the best and relevant products to meet their needs.
3. Take responsibility for visual presentation and cleanliness of the store. Report on buying trends, customer needs, profits etc.
4. Propose innovative ideas and products to increase sales.
5. Develop business strategies to raise our customers’ pool, expand store traffic and optimize profitability.
6. Meet sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring and providing feedback to work-study students assisting in the store.
7. Liaise with respective vendors to purchase goods while adhering to the universities procurement policy and procedures to ensure quality, right quantity and timely deliveries.
8. Process online orders accurately and efficiently.
9. Any other duties that are commensurate to the role.
Qualifications /Educational/Professional/experience
1. A Diploma in any field from an accredited institution.
2. At least three (3) years of work experience in the FMCG space.
3. Relevant IT skills.
Competencies and skills
1. Excellent communication skills with the ability to stay calm during all interactions.
2. Attention to detail to ensure the shop floor is presentable and fully stocked.
3. Confidence in giving advice and information to customers.
4. Good working knowledge of customer service best practice.
5. Experience of working within in a busy environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
6. Previous experience of working in a retail store and an understanding of retail procedures such as stock taking and till usage.
