Job Requirements
i. A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning and Management, Environmental Science Studies or any other related degree from a university recognized in Kenya.
ii. A master’s degree Environmental Planning and Management/ Environmental Science Studies is an added advantage;
iii. Must be a registered Lead/Associate Expert with relevant bodies;
iv. Thorough understanding of Environmental Laws and Regulations;
v. Ability to conduct research, organize and present information, write and compile analytical reports for presentation;
vi. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
xvii. Must satisfy the requirement of chapter six of the Kenyan Constitution.
Job Description
i. Co-ordinates all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, climate change, conservation and renewable energy to ensure compliance with Environmental legislation;
ii. Preparation of Sub-County Work Plans for all environmental activities and supervision of their implementation;
iii. Collaborating with community and other stakeholders in environmental conservation activities;
iv. Documenting and promoting best environmental practices;
v. Periodic preparation and submission of Environmental Progress Reports;
vi. Facilitation and promotion of Citizen Participation in management of environmental affairs;
vii. Assisting the Sub-County Administrator and liaising with other Government officers in developing strategies for better environmental service delivery;
viii. Ensuring compliance and enforcement of Environmental Regulations within the Sub County;
ix. Assisting the Sub-County Administrator and liaising with other county government officers in developing strategies for better environmental service delivery;
x. Developing and updating Sub-County Environmental Databases;
xi. Mobilizing the public to participate in environmental conservation, landscaping and management activities within the Sub-County including liaising with NGOs;
xii. Conducting environmental education and public awareness on environmental issues at the County/Sub-County level;
xiii. Identifying areas of Environmental concerns and ensuring they are sufficiently addressed and incorporated in Environmental management plans;
xiv. Supervising the Ward Environment officers;
xv. Any other duties that may be assigned by the Director Environment and Natural Resources.
