Job Description
In this role, you will be a key member of the Victory Farms’ Farm Operations team. You will report to our Farm Operations Director.
You will be responsible for managing all waste streams and ensuring safe disposal while identifying opportunities to create value from them. As a Waste Manager, you will oversee the handling, transportation, and disposal of all waste generated by the company, including general farm waste, guts, and scales. You will also take up other relevant tasks as directed by the Farm Operations Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. WASTE MANAGEMENT PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION ACROSS VICTORY FARMS SITES
o Develp and implement waste management plans and ensure compliance with NEMA regulations and minimize environmental impact.
o Conduct research and analysis to identify new waste management technologies and processes.
o Conduct regular audits of waste management systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and effectively.
2. WASTE HANDLING AND TRANSPORTATION
o Oversee handling, transportation, and disposal of all waste generated by the company, including general farm waste, guts, and scales.
o Develop and maintain relationships with waste management vendors and suppliers.
o Ensure that all waste management processes and procedures comply with company policies and regulations.
3. VALUE CREATION
o Identify opportunities to create value from waste streams, such as recycling or repurposing waste materials.
o Manage the hydrolase process with a structured scientific approach to identify the optimal solution.
4. TRAINING AND COMMUNICATION
o Develop and implement training programs for employees on proper waste management procedures.
o Prepare and submit reports to management on waste management activities and progress.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in waste management or related field.
• Experience with hydrolase processes and other waste management / treatment technologies preferred.
• Knowledge of NEMA and other local regulations related to waste management.
• Certifications in hazardous waste management will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
