Job Description
Deputy Director Culture and Arts will be responsible to County Director Culture and Arts in
matters related to Culture and Arts in the County.
Duties and responsibilities
h) Promote all forms of positive culture expressions through literature, the arts, traditional
celebrations, science, communications, mass media, publications, libraries and other forms of
cultural heritage;
i) Develop and regulate cultural activities;
j) Coordinate on observe international days on culture;
k) Patent and promote unique cultural forums and music, cuisines, crafts and other forms of arts.
l) Preserve, conserve and protect areas of cultural heritage;
m) Formulate, implement and monitor culture and arts policies and legislative frameworks;
n) Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirement for appointment
For appointment in this grade, a candidate must have: -
g) Served in the grade of Assistant Director Culture and Arts for a minimum period of three (3)
years or in any comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Public Sector;
h) Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, or its relevant and equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution;
i) Master’s degree in Social Science, or its relevant and equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution will be added advantage;
j) Attended Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
institution in Kenya;
k) Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution; and
l) Demonstrate a thorough understanding for national goals, policies, objectives and the ability
to relate them to the Culture and Arts function.
