The Senior Principal Superintending Engineer (Structural) is the head of the Structural Division
and is responsible to the Chief Officer in charge of Roads for all activities of the Division
comprising.
Duties and responsibilities:-
a. Maintenance and research, design and development, and administration and planning.
b. Direction, control, co-ordination and supervision of the personnel dealing with design and
institutions;
c. Construction and maintenance of all structural works in Government buildings and other
public works, formulation and implementation of policy matters on the welfare of the
Structural Division.
d. Implementation of the department’s strategic objectives;
e. Preparation and implementation of the department’s performance management system and
contracts;
f. Overseeing the financial and asset management issues of the department;
g. Instituting operational accountability;
h. Securing and managing financial support for development plans and overall supervision,
training and development of departmental staff.
i. Perform any other duty that may be assigned from time to time by the immediate
supervisor.
Requirements and competencies for appointment:
i. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a
recognized Institution;
ii. Registered with the Engineering Registration Board of Kenya (ERB)
iii. A current valid annual Practicing from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
iv. Corporate membership with –the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)
v. Attended a strategic leadership development course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from
a recognized Institution; and
vi. Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capacity
required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of structural and civil
engineering development programmes
