ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, GOVERNOR’S PRESS UNIT – JOB GROUP CPSB 05/’P’ (1 POST)
BASIC SALARY: Kshs. 87,360 x 3,190- 90,550 x 4,490- 95,040 x 4,860- 99,900 x 5,010- 104,910 x 5,240-
110,150 x 5,500- 115,650 x 5,780 – 121,430p.m
TERMS OF SERVICE: Three (3) years contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance

Duties and Responsibilities: –
i. Analyze information on programmes, significant events and impact on the customers in a specific
sectoral area;
ii. Research on possible causes of negative publicity on the Government on both local and
international press;
iii. Prepare and organize on how Government policies, programmes and projects can be propagated
and promoted;
iv. Prepare media supplements, documentaries, press releases/media features;
v. Regularly attending meetings at the Public Communications Office to deliberate on cross cutting
issues that require to be centrally disseminated by office of Public Communications.
vi. Ensuring that H.E. the Governor is adequately, consistently and extensively covered in major news
media outlets at all times;
vii. Identifying Government events in a specific sectoral area that require packaging for dissemination
to the media and the public;
viii. Gathering Information on policies, programmes, significant events and how they impact on
customers and disseminating the same to the public/media; and
ix. Ensuring proper projection of corporate image of the organization.

Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this position, one must;
i. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields Mass Communication, Public Relations,
Communication Studies, Journalism, International Relations, Social Sciences or any other
equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
ii. Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
iii. Have relevant experience of three (3) years;
iv. Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work
performance;
v. Certificate in digital photography and video editing will be added advantage.
