Director, Programmes (AFGM 2)- Vacancy No. AFGM/1/2023 (1post)-
Contract basis
a. Duties and Responsibilities
i. Overseeing the development and implementation of Anti-FGM guidelines and
strategies;
ii. Overseeing the designing, planning, implementation and review of Anti-FGM
education and awareness programmes;
iii. Spearheading identification and engagement of relevant partners and
stakeholders for prioritization of Anti-FGM issues;
iv. Ensuring mapping out Anti-FGM priority areas in collaboration with stakeholders;
v. Spearheading the sensitization of communities and public on the adverse effects,
emerging trends, and human rights violations related to female genital
mutilation;
vi. Facilitating the involvement of media in anti-female genital mutilation
campaigns;
vii. Overseeing the coordination, design and piloting of female genital mutilation
survey tools;
viii. Facilitating fora for anti- female genital mutilation awareness creation;
ix. Spearheading capacity building of stakeholders to manage and respond to female
genital mutilation issues;
x. Overseeing community-driven dialogues on female genital mutilation issues;
xi. Spearheading provision of support services to survivors of female genital
mutilation;
xii. Overseeing local and international organizations advocating against
female genital mutilation;
xiii. Ensuring development of information, education and communication
materials on female genital mutilation;
xiv. Overseeing dissemination of information on female genital mutilation;
xv. Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation implementation of anti-female genital
mutilation programmes;
xvi. Spearheading the development of alternative rites of passage curriculum and
coordination of programmes; and
xvii. Disseminating anti-female genital mutilation education and awareness reports.
b. Requirements for Appointment
i. Fifteen (15) years cumulative experience, four (4) of which should have been
at Deputy Director, Programmes or a comparable position in a reputable
organization;
ii. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Sociology, Anthropology,
Education; Gender Studies, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Policy,
Strategic Management or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
iii. Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Sociology,
Anthropology, Education; Gender Studies, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics,
Public Policy, Strategic Management or any other equivalent qualification from
a recognized institution;
iv. Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized institution;
v. Proficiency in computer applications;
vi. Demonstrated outstanding professional competence as reflected in work
performance.
