a. Duties and Responsibilities
i. Coordinating in the development and implementation of Anti-FGM
guidelines and strategies;
ii. Initiating the design, planning and implementation of Anti-FGM
education and awareness programmes;
iii. Spearheading identification and engagement of relevant partners and
stakeholders for prioritization of Anti-FGM issues;
iv. Coordinating mapping out Anti-FGM priority areas in collaboration with
stakeholders;
v. Facilitating adherence to regular review of the curriculum;
vi. creating awareness on the adverse effects, emerging trends, and
human rights violations related to female genital mutilation;
vii. Coordinating preparation of resource materials for awareness creation
on female genital mutilation;
viii. Maintaining and updating a database of Anti-FGM stakeholders;
ix. Organizing and facilitating fora for Anti-FGM awareness creation;
x. Building capacity of stakeholders to manage and respond to female
genital mutilation issues;
xi. Designing and piloting of female genital mutilation survey tools;
xii. Providing support services to survivors of female genital mutilation;
xiii. Preparing and disseminating information on health and social impact of
female genital mutilation;
xiv. Recommending the vulnerable women and girls from female genital
mutilation practicing communities to Affirmative Funds;
xv. Developing an alternative rites of passage curriculum;
xvi. Promoting alternative rites of passages programmes and
xvii. Coordinating preparation of reports on Anti-FGM matters.
b. Requirements for Appointment
i. Twelve (12) years cumulative experience, four (4) of which should have been at
Principal Programmes Officer or a comparable position in a reputable organization;
ii. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Sociology; Anthropology;
Education; Gender Studies or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
iii. Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Sociology; Anthropology;
Education; Gender Studies or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
iv. Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
will be an added advantage and
v. Proficiency in computer applications.
