Job Description
Purpose of the role:
• Formulate, consolidate and support key trade promotion and facilitation policies.
• Direct and co-ordinate trade development activities to contribute to the growth of businesses
Key Responsibilities:
Trade Facilitation
Implement trade agreements for the benefit of members. Offer advisory to members on existing trade and investment opportunities and address their challenges. Regularly monitor and evaluate the automated Certificate of Origin (COO)
• Organize continuous dialogue and information sharing on trade facilitation activities to Chamber members, national and regional stakeholders with regard to achievements and follow ups
Implement regional trade facilitation projects by providing substantive inputs into reports and papers prepared by the trade development teams
Disseminate success stories highlighting results and impact of trade facilitation projects in the regional business of Chamber members
• Monitor and evaluate trade facilitation activities that include standards, tariffs and Non-tariff barriers.
Trade Promotion
• Implement sector strategies of goods and service to enhance trade
• Implement and monitor trade promotion training programs Nurture trade partnership and collaborations
• Maintain relationships with key economic development professionals, stakeholders and key KNCCI personnel.
• Supervise and implement trade missions' strategy that includes; trade fairs, exhibitions, Expos, business missions and conduct promotion events, i.e. B2B
• Coordinate sectors specific dissemination workshops and other outreach programs to promote trade
Implement marketing strategies and plans to promote export trade
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
• MA/MSC in Economics and Degree in Economics or any business-related field from a recognized institution.
• 10 years' experience,5 years of which is managerial. • Must be a member of any professional body.
• Knowledge and experience of trade promotion, trade facilitation, trade related capacity building and government policy
• In-depth understanding of International Trade and Regional Economic Blocks.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills relevant to the role such as experience writing policy documents, government submissions and media communications
• Demonstrated advocacy, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
• Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and capacity to understand and apply research evidence and legislation • Strong management, mentoring and networking skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and to collaborate in a small team environment
• High level organizational and administrative skills and ability to prioritize workload, to work under pressure and
meet deadlines
