The Company invites applications from suitable individuals to fill the following positions: -
CHIEF PILOT – (KET 3) ONE (1 POSITION) REF: KET/5/1C/40/95/VOL III – B (12/23) ON
COTRACT TERMS FIVE (5) YEAR CONTRACT RENEWABLE SUBJECT TO PERFORMANCE
Reporting to the General Manager, System Operation and Power Management
Job purpose
This Job is responsible for management of the airwing and operating the Company’s
helicopter for aerial inspections and maintenance of high voltage transmission lines and
substations.
Key Responsibilities;
i. Providing leadership to the airwing team;
ii. Ensuring compliance with regulations and licensing requirements by the airwing team;
iii. Advising Management on regulations as issued by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority
(KCAA) from time to time on operation of aircrafts and associated navigation
equipment;
iv. Implementing management and technological innovations to enhance efficiency in
the airwing;
v. Planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance schedules of the
Company helicopter;
vi. Monitoring airwing unit performance and initiating necessary interventions;
vii. Ensuring compliance with KCAA periodical Circulars on aircraft maintenance and
crew training;
viii. Ensuring update of Rotorcraft Maintenance Manual (RMM) and Rotorcraft Flight
Manual (RFM) with the latest Manufacturer’s Technical and Flight Service Bulletins;
ix. Ensuring helicopter’s Flight Management System (FMS) database is updated yearly;
x. Maintaining operational linkages with other Departments/Sections of the Company;
xi. Managing human, financial and material resources assigned to the Air Wing;
xii. Managing staff job performance and evaluation, career development and capacity
building and deployment of skills;
xiii. Preparing Budgets and ensure control of the Air Wing budget;
xiv. Ensuring that pre-flights and post flights are carried out in adherence to Quick
Reference Handbook (QRH);
xv. Coordinating recurrent simulator and refresher ground training of airwing pilots and
engineers respectively with manufacturers in accordance to regulations issued by
KCAA;
xvi. Ensuring scheduled maintenance is done as stipulated by the Approved Maintenance
Program (AMP);
xvii. Providing aerial support in inspection of transmission lines and substations;
xviii. Conducting both hoisting of electrical maintenance crew and slinging of tower
construction materials during maintenance and repair of transmission lines;
xix. Operating the Company’s helicopter in accordance with KCAA current air navigation
regulations and adherence to manufacturer’s aircraft limitations;
xx. Sourcing for alternative/additional aircrafts for aerial support when required;
xxi. Ensuring that Company insurance schedules for the helicopter are complied with;
xxii. Maintaining company aircraft technical records;
xxiii. Coordinating functional activities within the airwing;
xxiv. Implementing cultural/behavioural change initiatives within the airwing;
xxv. Maintaining a conducive working environment to foster optimum performance;
xxvi. Facilitating air transport to other Company Functions;
xxvii. Renewing of both aircraft Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA) and Radio Stand
Certificate (RSC);
xxviii. Liaising with KCAA flight operations and airworthiness inspectors on matters
pertaining to crew training and aircraft maintenance;
xxix. Ensuring spares and tools of the helicopter are well secured and accounted for;
xxx. Accounting for resource use in line with prevailing laws, policies and regulations;
xxxi. Providing oversight in quality assurance for the Department.
Qualifications & Skills required
i). KCSE Grade C+ or its equivalent
ii). Valid Helicopter Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL)H / Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
H;
iii). Multi engine rating in both Instrument and Visual flight rules;
iv). Valid Radio Telephony License;
v). Valid Crew Resource Management Certificate (CRM);
vi). Valid Dangerous Goods Certificate (DG);
vii). Valid Aviation Security Certificate (AVSEC);
viii). Level six (6) Proficiency in English
ix). At least eight (8) years related work experience equivalent to over 2,500 flight
x). hours and 1,500 flight hours and above as a pilot in command (PIC);
xi). At least 100 hours night flying;
xii). Current aviation class one (medical)

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS
Applicants MUST provide the following documents on application:-

c) Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
d) Current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and
e) Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
