Job Description
Job Purpose
This is a senior management position reporting to the Managing Director, the job holder will be
responsible for leading the technical department/ team and overseeing the provision of reliable
water supply to customers. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and
efficiency of all technical aspects of the water supply and sanitation system.
Technical Manager shall be appointed on performance-based contracts through a competitive
process.
Key Responsibilities
1) Develop and implement strategies to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable water supply to
customers.
2) Oversee the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of water supply infrastructure.
3) Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to water supply.
4) Develop and manage budgets for the technical services department.
5) Manage and supervise technical staff, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
6) Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory authorities,
customers, and contractors.
7) Coordinate with other departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration on
technical issues.
8) Prepare and present reports on technical performance and progress to senior management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil or Water Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized
institution.
Five (5) years of relevant experience with two (2) years in a supervisory role.
Must be a member of Institute of Engineers in Kenya (IEK) or Engineers Board of Kenya
(EBK), or any other related body.
Working in a water sector organisation will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of water supply infrastructure design, construction, operation, and
maintenance.
Computer literacy.
