Job Description
Our client is a well established general business company with branches across Kenya. They wish to recruit an Accountant who will be based at the Kisii Office. The accountant will help the business to make critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking, and correcting the company’s finances. He/she will be responsible for financial audits, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring that financial records are accurate throughout the year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Tracking payments to internal and external stakeholders.
• Preparing budget forecasts, monitor on budget implementation, review and give feedback.
• Cash flow management and projection to meet short term, mid-term and long-term objections.
• Processing tax payments and returns.
• Manage all accounting transactions and maintain reliable book-keeping.
• Prepare budget forecasts.
• Publish financial statements in time.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
• Ensure timely bank payments.
• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns.
• Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
• Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity.
• Audit financial transactions and documents.
• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.
• Comply with financial policies and regulations.
• Train, supervise, allocate and delegate tasks to finance team.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 5 years work experience as an accountant.
• BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Hands-on experience with accounting software.
• Experience with general ledger functions.
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
• Additional certification (CPA or any other) is a plus
