PRINCIPAL LEGAL COUNSEL (2 POSITIONS) JOB GROUP ‘Q’-VACANCY NO.

Requirements for appointment
i. Be a Kenyan citizen;
ii. Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
iii. Post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
iv. Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK);
v. Must be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current and valid
practicing certificate;
vi. A minimum experience of six (6) years in either public or private legal practice;
vii. Proficiency in computer skills and membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK)
will be an added advantage.
viii. Satisfies requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership
and integrity.
The duties and responsibilities include: -
ix. Shall, on the instructions of the county attorney represent the county executive in
court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party,
other than criminal proceedings.
x. Handling pre-legal disputes and inquiries, preparing legal opinions and legal
briefs drafting leases and contracts.
xi. Formulate, implement and review legal strategies, policies, plans, standards and
procedures pertaining to legal services as per the County’s strategic plan.
xii. Advice and assist the county Government in compliance with national and
international instruments.
xiii. Ensuring compliance with principle and values of good governance, Human
right, transparency, ethics and integrity
xiv. Analyzing research data and compiling reports
xv. Undertaking law review
xvi. Interpreting legal instruments and statutes.
xvii. Perform any other function that may be assigned from time to time.
Terms of Service: 3 years’ contract, renewable once subject to satisfactory performance.
Remuneration: as per SRC Guidelines.
