GROUP “R”, POSITION: ONE (1)
The Director Livestock Production will be responsible to the County Chief Officer in charge of Livestock
Production and Fisheries for planning, directing, controlling and coordinating of livestock development
policies and programmes.
Duties and Responsibilities:-
(i) Organization, directing, controlling and coordinating of the function of Livestock
Production in the County;
(ii) Developing appropriate county department policies, legal and institutional frameworks for
the implementation of the mandate of Livestock Development;
(iii) Coordination of production, documentation and dissemination of Livestock Production;
(iv) Interpreting and applying national and county laws and other related statutes in line with
the county goals and objectives;
(v) Designing and managing complex disease control programmes;
(vi) Acquisition of professional and management equipment & materials for livestock
development;
(vii) Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirement for Appointment
For appointment in this grade, a candidate must have:-
(i) Serve in the grade of Deputy Director of Livestock Production or in a comparable and
relevant position in the public service or private sector for minimum period of three (3)
years;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following; Animal Science/Animal Production, Agriculture,
Agribusiness, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Range
Management/Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, and Diary
Technology, Agricultural Extension or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from
recognized institutions;
(iii) Master’s degree in any of the following; Animal Science/Animal Production, Agriculture,
Agribusiness, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Range
Management/Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, and Diary
Technology, Agricultural Extension or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from
recognized institutions;
(iv) Attended Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks or equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution; and
(v) Demonstrate a thorough understanding for national goals, policies, objectives and the ability
to relate them to the administration function.
