Job Description
Job Summary: To oversee performance of routine mechanical and electrical inspections on the oxygen and vacuum plants and to ensure lubrication, inspection and replacement of parts and where necessary, to order and ensure maintenance parts and lubricants needed are available for the plants’ operations
Responsibilities:
Preparing reports by using end user data, collected information, trending habits, and using any other relevant information.
To ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies related to medical equipment.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in biomedical technology, codes, and regulations to ensure the hospital's
biomedical systems are up-to-date and in compliance.
Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to coordinate biomedical work and minimize disruption to hospital
operations.
Implementation of Planned preventive maintenance of all the medical equipment as per schedule.
Performing of Corrective Maintenance on Medical equipment.
Installation of new Medical equipment as per manufactures recommendations.
Performing calibration and electrical safety test on Medical Equipment.
Training clinicians and other personnel on how to use/handle biomedical machines and equipment, safely and effectively.
Maintenance of appropriate records of Breakdown and preventative maintenance.
Daily Monitoring of Critical Equipment Uptime.
Performing of Monthly Checks on Medical Equipment
Liaise between Medical equipment vendors and the hospital for Breakdown and Preventive maintenance.
Support inventory management of medical equipment.
Responsible for all repairs and maintenance tools and materials in their custody.
Ensure tidiness and safety of workstations and sites within the hospital.
Recommend materials and supplies for requisition within the workshop stores necessary for efficient delivery of services.
Any other related duty assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
Applicants should have a minimum of a Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology with a minimum of 3 years’
experience in a hospital setup.
Experience in a cardiac facility will be an added advantage.
Registration with a professional body (AMEK) will be an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Excellent manual dexterity and ability to use hand and power tools.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
