POSITION: GRAPHICS DESIGNER II JOB GROUP CPSB 10 (J)
Number of Posts: One (1) Post
Terms of Service: Permanent
Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop derivative products such as social media infographics, GIFS, brochures, and
banners.
2. Proficient in Coral, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator / InDesign.
3. Provide proofs to ensure product quality prior to printing and/or publication.
4. Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive
designs.
5. Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for
print.
6. Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, illustrators4,
other designers, account executives, web developers and communication specialists.
7. Ensure the communication materials produced have the desired impact on the target
audience.
8. Developing concepts, graphics, and layouts including making decisions about fonts,
images readability, and readers' needs.
9. Able to combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the
layout of websites and printed page
10. Develop publication layouts for online-friendly format(s).
11. Managing assigned projects and programmes under the guidance of the head of the
Unit/ Section.
12. Liaise with printing services to ensure high quality printing of abovementioned
publications.
13. Other graphic design support as needed
Requirements for Appointments
1. Be a Kenyan Citizen
2. Diploma in graphic arts, design, communications, or a relevant field is required.
3. Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in graphic design is required.
4. Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
5. Possess advanced computer application skills;
6. Have a clear understanding of the working of the media and the sociopolitical
environment in Kenya;
7. Have demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work
performance and results.
8. Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles of public
service as outlined in articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya.
9. AutoCAD, Acrobat, Web Design / Basic HTML and CSS knowledge will be an added
advantage
