COUNTY DIRECTOR (LAND SURVEYS); JOB GROUP ‘R’ – ONE [1] POST ADVERT NO. 36/2021/2022
Salary Scale: Ksh.115, 290 x 5,770 – 121,060 x 6,050 – 127,110 x 6,240 – 133,350 x 6,420 – 139,770 x 6,610 – 146,380 x6, 790 – 153,170 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director Land Survey will be responsible to the Chief Officer in charge of Land, Physical Planning, and Housing and Urban Development for coordination and management of Land Survey Services.
Specific Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:-
(i) Implementing new survey techniques, policies, and human capacity development in line with the changing professional demands;
(ii) Ensuring maintenance of national and international boundaries;
(iii) Verifying research of new and emerging technologies, astronomical, gravity, magnetic, cadastral, adjudication, sub-divisional schemes, photo control, engineering surveys, (VLBI) observations, adjudication and general boundary surveys;
(iv) Providing standardization data for maintaining, testing, calibrating and certifying survey equipment and be responsible for staff supervision, development and appraisal in the Directorate.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
(i) Served in the grade of Senior Assistant Director of Land Surveys or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following discipline: - Land Surveying and Photogrammetry, Geomatics, Geomatic Engineering, Technology in Geomatics, Technology in Geo-informatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, Philosophy in Technology (Survey), from a recognized institution;
(iii) Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Land Surveying, Land Management, Cartography, Photogrammetry, Photolithography, Geomatics, Geomatic Engineering, Technology in Geomatics, Technology in Geoinformatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Urban or Regional Planning, Geodesy, Hydrography, Environmental Science, Information Science or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(iv) Full membership of the Institution of Surveys of Kenya (MISK);
(v) Attended Strategic Leadership Development Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
(vi) Certificate in computer applications;
(vii) Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya.
(viii) Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a thorough understanding of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to land survey function.
