Job Description
Requirements and competencies for appointment:
i) Holder of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized University;
ii) Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya of not less than five (5) years post-administrative experience
iii) A master’s in law will be an added advantage.
iv) Be a member of Law Society of Kenya in good standing
v) Knowledge in records of relevant laws and professional standards.
vi) Successful applicant to meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Duties and Responsibilities
i) Coordinate representation of the county executive in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party or has interest.
ii) Prepare legal opinion to County Executive on legislative and other legal matters;
iii) Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of the county executive
iv) Formulate and review of county laws in consultation with the relevant body;
v) Supervise litigation, drafting and conveyance;
vi) Prepare cabinet memoranda;
vii) Oversee the finances and asset management of the office of the County Attorney,
viii) Overall supervision, control, discipline, training and development of staff in the county Attorney office;
ix) Support in drafting and Publication of legislative proposals for the County Government
x) Ensure compliance with national, regional and international legal instruments, identifying and acting on impediments and constraints to the implementation of laws and policies;
xi) Design, facilitate and implement prioritized programs
