PRINCIPAL GEOLOGIST
Job Description
Duties and responsibilities will entail;
• Conducting detailed geological data review to determine prospective targets;
• Preparing proposals for mineral exploration;
• Preparing technical specifications for mineral development;
• Supervising performance of geological contractors and consultants;
• Generating exploration targets using geological mapping, geochemical and geophysical data;
• Coordinating implementation of exploration projects and programmes;
• Coordinating data and sample collection from the field;
• Implementing recommendations of geological exploration reports;
• Ensuring compliance to legislation and statutes related to geological exploration activities and reporting on mineral development;
• Monitoring and evaluating geological exploration activities; and
• Analyzing geological data, preparing site models, and generating new drilling locations and reports.
Job Specification
For appointment to this grade, an Officer must have;
• At least eight (8) years’ work experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory role;
• Masters degree in the following disciplines: - Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Geoscience, and Environmental Geology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Bachelors degree in the following disciplines: - Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Geoscience, and Environmental Geology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Registered by the Geologists’ Registration Board (GRB) and in good standing; and
• Fulfilled the requirements of chapter six of the constitution.
