ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FISHERIES - JOB GROUP CPSB 05 ‘P’ (1 POST)
Basic Salary: Kshs. 87,360 x 3,190 – 90,550 x 4,490 – 95,040x 4,860 -99,900 x 5,010 – 103,910 x
5,240 – 110,150x 5,500 – 115,650 x 5,780 – 121,430 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
The officer will be the specialist in either Fish Quality Assurance or Marketing, Aquaculture
Development or Dam and Riverine Fisheries.
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail: -
a) Implement fisheries policies, projects and programs;
b) Organize extension approaches and methodologies;
c) Implement and monitoring resource conservation intervention strategies;
d) Monitor fish seed and feed production programs;
e) Design fish marketing strategies;
f) Promote fish and fishery product value addition;
g) Monitor and evaluation of fish projects/ program;
h) Undertake applied research;
i) Liaise with research institutions for research programs and dissemination of research
findings;
j) Manage fisheries data bank; and
k) Coordinate resource utilization at the area of deployment.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
a) Served in the grade of Principal Fisheries Officer, Job Group CPSB 06/’N’ for a minimum
period of three (3) years;
b) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields;- Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences,
Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Aquatic Sciences,
Natural Resource Management or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a
recognized institution;
c) Master’s degree in any of the following fields; - Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences,
Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Aquatic Sciences,
Natural Resource Management or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a
recognized institution will be an added advantage;
d) Broad knowledge in Fisheries Development and Management Policies, Fisheries Act and
related Acts and nternational Conventions; and
e) Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
