COUNTY DIRECTOR GENDER AND SOCIAL SERVICES – JOB GROUP “R” – ONE [1] POST ADVERT NO. 15/2021/2022
Salary scale: Ksh.115, 290 x 5,770 – 121,060 x 6,050 – 127,110 x 6,240 – 133,350 x 6,420 – 139,770 x 6,610 – 146,380 x6, 790 – 153,170 p.m.
The Director Gender and Social Services will be the head of the division and will be responsible to the Chief Officer, in charge of Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture and Tourism for overall coordination of the Social Development services in the County.
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
(i) Developing, reviewing, and overseeing the implementation of social development policies and programmes;
(ii) Coordinating social development activities into the County;
(iii) Promoting socio-economic empowerment in the public and private sector;
(iv) Facilitating domestication and implementation of resolutions on social development made at county engagements;
(v) promoting research and benchmarking on social development issues;
(vi) Overseeing the implementation of social development related funds;
(vii) Promoting partnership with stakeholders on social development-related matters;
(viii) Coordinating the development of performance contracts and annual work plans for the department;
(ix) Monitoring the performance of the directorate; and
(x) Supervising, mentoring, and development of staff in the department.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
(i) Have served in the grade of Senior Assistant Director of Social Welfare or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three [3] years.
(ii) Have a Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Community Development, Anthropology, Counselling or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
(iii) Be fully conversant with the Government policy on social welfare and rehabilitation
(iv) Attended Strategic Leadership Development Programme course lasting not less than from a recognized institution. ; and
(v) Have demonstrated professional and administrative capability in the general organization and management of the social welfare function and personnel
(vi) Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya.
