GROUP “Q” POSITION: ONE (1)
Duties and responsibilities
a) Supervising the provision of appropriate curriculum support materials, tools and
equipment
b) Monitor youth polytechnic trainee enrolment and implementation of curricular and co-
curricular activities to maintain standards
c) Assessing upcoming youth polytechnics’ capacity for registration as training institutions
and examination centers
d) Strengthening strategic partnerships and collaborations among stakeholders on
revitalization, rehabilitation and promotion of youth polytechnic training
e) Supervising disbursement of subsidized youth polytechnic tuition scheme and grants
f) Coordinating development and integration of information communication technology in
youth polytechnic training
g) Managing inter-youth polytechnic exchange programs to enhance learning
h) Ensuing the development and maintenance of assets and skills inventories in youth
polytechnics
i) Building capacity in youth polytechnics by conducting regular human resource planning
j) Liaising with Kenya Institute of Education and Kenya National Examinations Council in
developing and reviewing curricular and also administering examinations in youth
polytechnics
k) Validating youth polytechnic reports against set criteria
l) Preparing departmental budgets, procurement plan and annual work plans
Requirement for appointment
For appointment in this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) Have knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than five (5) years, three (3) of
which must have been at management level
b) Bachelor’s degree in Education/ Technology Education; Bachelor of Science/ Arts with a
post graduate diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
c) Masters’ Degree in Education or Technology Education, Science /Arts from a recognized
institution;
d) Having undergone Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme course of
not less than six weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
e) Certificate in Computer applications from a recognized Institution
f) Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance results
